JCommerce has just begun building the Internet information and communication platform for the General Directorate for Environmental Protection (Generalna Dyrekcja Ochrony Środowiska - GDOŚ).

The platform is a part of the project that aims to create plans of conservation measures for the Natura 2000 sites in Poland. It will support the preparation and publication of documents created for the project and will become its showcase. The platform is also to grow into a compendium of protected areas in Poland.

The General Directorate for Environmental Protection
is a government body responsible for the environmental policy
with regard to:

- environmental protection management,
  including the Natura 2000 sites,

- investment process control.

The directorate deals with the prevention and compensation of environmental losses. It is also in charge of managing the information about the environment and registration of the companies in the eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS). Furthermore, the directorate creates a European Network of Environmental Authorities that is responsible for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the European Union countries and the institutions implementing the European programmes.

The directorate was created under the authority of the Act of 3rd October, 2008 on availability of information on environment and its protection, participation of citizens in environmental protection and environmental impact assessment (non-formal translation, Journal of the Laws 2008 No 199, Item 1227)
